Converting/Preserving Games
As a hobby for a while, I have been ripping older games* to learn more about front-end development as well as to preserve and make these games more accessible to audiences that may not be able to obtain the game through physical terms. This is also to preserve the older games before they are lost to time.
*not just straight from the consoles but mostly from web pages
My top 5 favourite games I have given this treatment to are:
Super Mario 64
This was a fun one to do as I had to get it from a closed-source version online. The many hours spent learning how to track down the files that are not locally stored on the same domain as the game was well worth it in the end.
Subway Surfers (80% of locations)
This was one of my biggest challenges at the point I started ripping this one. I was challenged by a fellow game ripper by the name of yell0wsuit, in which they said: "Gotta F12 for yourself"*. Referring to having to go into and inspect element to copy the code yourself. This is because yell0wsuit was tired of people stealing his games (when they were open source) and not crediting him, so he made all of them closed source. Giving me a fun reason to take up the challenge.

Minecraft Web Version 0.0.23a_01 (Official version - https://classic.minecraft.net)
This was a lot of trial and error. Some of the assets weren't present as they weren't in a single image file. This caused me to have to play the game to load all of the textures and then try scraping the files from the web page.
Space Cadet Pinball
This was probably the most simple one I had to do. There were about 2 files to make the game work: index.html, script.js. and that was it!
Wordle Unlimited
This was a fun small project similar to doing Space Cadet Pinball, but this time I had a bigger motive. My school had not blocked Wordle itself but its sister app, Wordle Unlimited. This restricted my year and probably more from playing a fun little word game countless times in a row instead of waiting until tomorrow.
